About Robert:

Robert was born in Colorado Springs , CO , where his father was stationed at Ft. Carson . In 1976 the family moved to Dallas , TX , where Robert's father is a partner in a small Dallas CPA company and his mother is a high school librarian.

Robert received his bachelor's degree from The University of North Texas and an MBA in finance from The University of Texas at Dallas . This degree led to a career with Kimberly-Clark. After several years with Kimberly-Clark, where he was able to achieve cost savings of $2.4M per year, Robert's desire to try his hand at entrepreneurship inspired a move from Texas to Kansas City to help expand a popular local family deli, leaving behind their new home, a comfortable career in finance, and 4 weeks of guaranteed vacation to live in a small apartment and work towards the “American Dream.” After five years, hundreds of hours, and sacrifice, they have helped Cupini's grow from one store with $750,000 in annual business to five stores with combined revenue of $3.5M and recognition by Zagat as one of the top 1,000 Italian restaurants in the US . Robert hopes to open a Cupini's in Johnson County soon.

Martha teaches talented and gifted education in the Blue Valley School District , which gives Robert a particularly acute awareness of teachers and their struggles. Increased salaries are not enough to offset the 26% rise in health care costs this year.

Robert and Martha are looking forward to the birth of their first child in 2009.
